SUGA BOMB is a follower focused workshop designed to centre confidence, creativity and equity in partner dancing. Following is not passive. It is skilled, intentional and expressive. SUGA BOMB supports followers of all genders in developing strong technique, a clear connection, and a confident personal voice within the dance partnership.
Rooted in the Black American origins of swing dance, this programme fosters cultural appreciation, shared responsibility and mutual respect on the dance floor. Participants are invited to explore movement, musicality and expression in an inclusive, affirming learning space.
Over two immersive days, dancers build clear, responsive connections, body awareness and technical confidence, creative decision making and personal style, and trust in their own movement and voice.
This is a learning environment that values curiosity, experimentation and collaboration. Dancers leave with practical tools they can use immediately in social dancing, alongside a deeper understanding of their role as equal partners in the dance partnership.
SUGA BOMB is open to followers with some swing dance experience and is not suitable for absolute beginners. Dancers of any role who wish to deepen their following skills are welcome to attend.

SUGA BOMB 'CORE' PEDAGOGY
A two-day Core workshop is recommended, with both days dedicated to developing the skills needed to become a confident, responsive, and dynamic follower. Alongside technical foundations, the programme places strong emphasis on visual style, self-expression, and feeling comfortable and assured while dancing.
The Core workshops are designed for followers at the improver level and above. Trisha has extensive experience working with mixed-ability groups within a single workshop and is able to adapt the material to challenge and extend more experienced dancers, while also slowing the pace and reinforcing fundamentals for those who benefit from additional drilling and support.
Once the Core workshop has been completed, a wide range of additional subjects is available, with content suitable for dancers from improver through to advanced level. This flexibility allows hosts to design a SUGA BOMB programme that reflects the needs, interests, and experience of their community. Focus areas may include developing dance technique, refining personal style and expression, building confidence and flair, or exploring choreography and variations.

Suga Bomb Discovery
If you would like to explore the material in greater depth, or if your followers are seeking a higher level of conceptual challenge, SUGA BOMB DiSCOVERY offers a programme of elective workshops designed to extend learning beyond the Core. Organisers can select from a range of subject areas to create a bespoke programme that responds directly to the needs, interests, and experience of their community.
Want to host Suga Bomb ?
We ask that the programme of workshops be advertised using the title SUGA BOMB, followed by your location, for example, SUGA BOMB Timbuktu. Consistent naming helps dance communities easily recognise shared values, teaching approaches, and skills across different locations.
To support hosts, we aim to make promotion as simple and straightforward as possible. When you host a SUGA BOMB event, you will be provided with a marketing toolkit that includes guidance on wording and content to use when promoting the workshop on your website and social media, along with a clear checklist of practical considerations for hosting your event.
